Man in hospital after being shot by Bibb deputy in Macon

MACON, Ga. — A person is in the hospital Monday after a shootout with Bibb County deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

They say it happened inside the 800 block of West Grenada Terrace just after 11 a.m.

Just after 11 a.m. a deputy attempted to pull the person over after a stolen car was discovered by Flock cameras. 

The people inside the car tried to run when deputies attempted to make contact.

One suspect fired at the deputies and the deputies fired shots back. 

Deputies applied a tourniquet and paramedics responded to the scene and immediately treated the suspect for his wound. 

He was taken to the hospital for treatment. The subject is listed in stable condition. 

No one else was injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting incident. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Internal Affairs Office will conduct an internal investigation.
