Love Island USA’s Serena Page couldn’t hide her excitement after learning Ellen Pompeo was a fan of her romance with Kordell Beckham.
“I literally screamed,” Serena, 25, exclusively told Us Weekly at Billboard’s Women in Music event on Saturday, March 29. “I screamed because I quoted her in my intro to the show. Love her down. I love you, Ellen.”
On the March 18 episode of Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Pompeo, 55, said she was in the middle of binging season 6 of Love Island USA.
“Serena and Kordell, that’s my season. Those are my peeps. Love them,” the Grey’s Anatomy actress shared. “Literally wanna get invited to their wedding. They’re so adorable.”
On the Peacock dating reality show, viewers are able to watch Serena develop feelings for Kordell, 22. Although the reality stars faced some hurdles while filming in Fiji — partly due to the show’s always dramatic Casa Amor twist — the duo ended up winning season 6.
They remain together as well as fellow contestants Leah Kateb and Miguel Harichi and JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez.
“When I saw [Ellen’s comments], I was like, ‘No way!’” Serena recalled to Us. “And she said, ‘I’m her peep.’ So you know what? We’re peeps, and she will be invited to the wedding.”
With June marking one year since Serena and Kordell first appeared on Love Island USA, the pair are enjoying the next chapter of their love story after representing Black love on reality TV.
“As someone who grew up watching reality TV and I hadn’t seen much of Black love on TV, did I go in there and think that that would happen? Not at all,” Serena explained at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California. “I did not think that would happen, but I’m so grateful and blessed that I am in that. I found me such an amazing Black man who loves me down.”
While Serena isn’t against doing more reality TV, she is more interested in getting into acting and scripted projects going forward.
She also won’t stop enjoying quality time with her main man as they continue to build a life together — and serve as each other’s biggest cheerleaders.
“We do a lot of things together,” she shared. “We’re honestly each other’s supporters because we kind of both know what we’re going through right now. Anytime I have anything, I’m like, ‘babe.’”
