Sean Combs is already facing several sexual assault lawsuits, and now the producer of his latest release The Love Album: Off The Grid is going after the performer for $30 million in a biting legal action.
In a complaint filed today in federal court in New York, Rodney Jones Jr., AKA Lil Rod claims the “forceful and demanding” music mogul who goes by Diddy, compelled him to have sex with prostitutes, and submit to constant groping of his genitals. Revealing a Combs’ controlled alleged decadent world of money and power plays, Jones exclaims he was subjected to a possible drugging and rape, ritual humiliation, and being short changed more than $50,000 for his work on the September 15, 2023 released Love record.
The arresting 70-page suit from Jones goes on to say that the 54-year-old Combs sought to “groom him into accepting a homosexual relationship …a normal practice in the music industry.”
Represented by attorney Tyrone Bladkburn, Jones also claims that a “RICO enterprise” exists that repeatedly “failed to adequately monitor, warn, or supervise” Combs. A conspiracy that is being perpetuated by some of the most powerful people in the music business. To that end, Universal Music Group CEO Sir Lucian Grainge and ex-Motown CEO Ethiopia Habtemariam are named as defendants too, along with Diddy, his top aide Kristina Khorram and the star’s 30-year-old son Justin
“Throughout his time with Mr. Combs, Mr. Jones witnessed, experienced, and endured many things that went far beyond his role as a Producer on the Love album,” the heavily photo illustrated suit says. Noting that “Mr. Combs required Mr. Jones to record him constantly,” the filing asserts that “Mr. Jones has secured hundreds of hours of footage and audio records of Mr. Combs, his staff, and his guests engaging in serious illegal activity.”
Over the year and two months that Jones worked with Combs all over the country on the multi-producer Love Album, the plaintiff states that he was introduced to some of his de facto boss’ famous friends – and it didn’t always go well. In one instance, Jones details meeting Cuba Gooding Jr, who has had run in of his own over misconduct accusations, and that the Oscar winner ended up “touching, groping, and fondling Mr. Jones’s legs, his upper inner thighs near his groin, the small of his back near his buttocks and his shoulders.”
Asked to address said illegal activity and the accusations in this most recent sexual assault allegation against Combs, attorney Shawn Holley said in a widely distributed statement that “Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar who filed a $30 million lawsuit, shamelessly looking for an undeserved payday.”
“His reckless name-dropping about events that are pure fiction and simply did not happen is nothing more than a transparent attempt to garner headlines,” the Kinsella Holley Iser Kump Steinsapir LLP partner added. “We have overwhelming, indisputable proof that his claims are complete lies. We will address these outlandish allegations in court and take all appropriate action against those who make them.”
Justin Combs was even more unequivocal in his and his father’s defense.
“Justin Combs categorically denies these absurd allegations,” a spokesperson told Deadline. “They are all lies! This is a clear example of a desperate person taking desperate measures in hopes of a pay day. There will be legal consequences for ALL defamatory statements made about the Combs family.”
Jones attorney Tyrone Blackburn did not respond to request for comment on the lawsuit he filed for his client. If and when, Mr. Blackburn does respond, this post will be updated.
While the first sexual assault allegation from a man, today’s filing comes after Combs has been hit with four previous sexual assault suits from women late last year, including his ex-longtime girlfriend Cassandra Ventura. That action was settled for an apparently significant but confidential sum within 24-hours of the explosive matter being put in the court docket in New York last November. Taking a stance that everyone is out for a “payday,” Combs has been subsequently most recently until today accused of sex trafficking and participating in the gang rape of an 11th grader in 2003.
In a response filing last week in the case of the now adult Jane Doe, Combs said he “never participated in, witnessed, or was or is presently aware of any misconduct, sexual or otherwise, relating to plaintiff in any circumstance whatsoever.” The suit violates Combs’ “rights under the U.S. Constitution and the New York State Constitution,” and should be dismissed, the 11-page response from Holley and a bevy of other lawyers adds.
Jane Doe’s lawyer Doug Wigdor was quick to dismiss the attempt at dismissal.
“The deeply troubling allegations against the defendants by multiple women speak for themselves, Wigdor said on February 20. “The ridiculous claim that the photos are somehow fake and the law at issue is unconstitutional are nothing more than desperate attempts to conjure a defense where none exists.”
BTW – there was some confusion around Lil Rod’s lawsuit today with the Federal District Court in Manhattan docket initially announcing the action was for $30 billion, not $30 million. Combs’ attorney at first responded to that $30 billion figure. Everybody’s fever came down a bit when the mega-sum was corrected to $30 million this evening.
