Lizzo clarifies she’s not quitting music days after post about quitting

Days after announcing she’s ‘quitting’, Lizzo has assured fans she is not leaving music.

The About Damn Time singer has clarified her viral comments in a new Instagram video, explaining she meant she is quitting “giving any negative energy attention”.

“What I’m not gonna quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people. Cause I know I’m not alone,” she said in the short clip.

“All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,” she continued.

“I didn’t sign up for this s**t, I QUIT,” the Truth Hurts singer signed off.

The statement follows accusations of body shaming and sexual harassment from Lizzo’s former dancers just months before.

In August 2023 it was reported Lizzo had been sued by three of her former dancers, who also accused the star of creating a hostile work environment.
