Listen to Nvctve's Filthy Cyclops Recordings EP, "Fester"

Producing nasty bass music from a nightmarish future, Nvctve has released Fester, their debut on Subtronics’ Cyclops Recordings.

Since the label’s late-2020 inception, Cyclops has championed hungry, unheralded music producers who are unafraid to take risks. At the age of 21, Nvctve (pronounced “invective”) certainly fits the bill, and they are now positioning themselves as one of the scene’s most gifted sound designers.

Like toxic sludge bubbling up from a polluted swamp, Fester overwhelms the senses with its filthy, corrosive neurobass. In the EP’s titular track, Nvctve wields white noise like a chainsaw gone haywire, slicing through the mix in ferocious fashion.

However, within the project’s noxious fumes lie moments of haunting beauty. The woozy soundscapes of “Weak Connection” engulf us in a haze of distortion, but we’re snapped out of the hypnosis when Nvctve unleashes a bloodthirsty trap drop. Here they leave no stone unturned, producing a centrifuge of snarling bass.
