Lisa Vanderpump took aim at her former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills castmate, Kyle Richards, during an interview this week, ahead of the grand opening of her latest restaurant in Las Vegas, Pinky’s at the Flamingo.
As she also reacted to Kyle, 55, and Dorit Kemsley‘s separations from Mauricio Umansky, 54, and Paul “PK” Kemsley, 57, respectively, spoke of Stassi Schroeder‘s past gig as a waitress at her SUR Restaurant, and revealed what she was looking for from her Vanderpump Rules cast, Lisa, 64, reflected on her recent run-in with Kyle.
“I think when people talk about the opposite of love [is] hate, it’s not. It’s kind of indifference … I’m just like, ‘Hey, hi, how are you?’” Lisa recalled amid a December 5 interview on Access Hollywood’s Housewives Nightcap. “It needs to start with an apology to ever reconcile because you can’t ever pick up a friendship when somebody’s calling you a liar. That doesn’t work for me, at all.”
Although Lisa hasn’t watched RHOBH since she left the series in 2019, she admitted to feeling that much of the drama she has caused over the years wasn’t genuine, but for the sake of the show.
“I think a lot of what she’s done in the past is for the camera,” she stated. “I know Dorit and Kyle are arguing, fighting. It always kind of goes full circle, doesn’t it? Kyle was a terrible friend to me.”
While Lisa had nothing good to say about her relationship with Kyle, she confessed to feeling bad about her and Mauricio’s breakup.
“[I am] sorry to see that. I always thought they were pretty solid even though there were a lot of… Yeah,“ she explained, seemingly giving a nod to past rumors about the estranged couple’s marriage.
As for Dorit, 48, and PK, Lisa suspected their split was a “slow demise.”
“We do have mutual friends so I’d heard rumors but again, you hope for the best really for them with two young little ones. But PK and I definitely have mutual friends so I know what’s going on and I wish him very well,” she noted.
Regarding her past working with Stassi, 36, who will star alongside her on the upcoming second season of Vanderpump Villa, Lisa admitted she “was actually the worst [server].”
“[But] she survived [at SUR] for quite a long time. She just had so much charm, even though she wasn’t a very good waitress. She sort of brought a certain cache,” Lisa explained.
Speaking of the Pump Rules reboot, Lisa shared what she’s looking for in the cast of season 12.
“I’m looking for authenticity. I think that’s the first thing you look for, the people that can really be themselves,” she reasoned. “Nothing is as interesting as when people are just honest with their lives. I’m looking for great connections, which always happens, whether it’s positive or negative, when you’re in the restaurant business.”
As for how the series will differ from past seasons, Lisa said “everything has to be unique” or it will “[get] boring.”
“The show will just be different and I think it will be a mistake to compare one show to the other,” she stated.
Also during the interview, Lisa gushed over her new Vegas venue, Pinky’s, which opened on Thursday.
“This was a casino floor … and it’s been nine months of building it … And to actually sit down and have the opening party tonight and see all this, this is my daughter [Pandora Sabo]’s creation. Everything goes through me but brilliant, brilliant job,” she proclaimed. “This whole experience is about playful, it’s about beauty, it’s about decadence, and this is a nod to Flamingo being one of the first hotels on the strip.”
“It’s really a historic building so we wanted to give you something that you feel like you’re stepping back in time,” she added.
