Lisa Barlow offered an update on her 20-year-old son, Jack Barlow, and his mission in Colombia after last week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

Following the news that Jack, who she shares with husband John Barlow, was forced to return home briefly after being hospitalized, Lisa, 50, admitted “something else” happened to her oldest child as she also confirmed Jack’s new position and revealed his service will soon be coming to an end.

“He had something else happen where we’re like, ‘You need to come home,’” Lisa began on the January 22 episode of the RHOSLC: After Show.

According to Lisa, Jack didn’t initially want to leave Colombia amid his mission because he feared he would not be welcomed back.

“So he wrote his mission president and got us all on a Zoom and said, ‘I won’t go home unless you put it in writing that I can come back,’ and you need to have whoever you need with the church on the call, the Zoom, so that everyone hears it and it’s okay,” Lisa revealed. “[So] Jack came home, they did everything they needed to do.”

After Jack returned to Salt Lake City for three weeks, Lisa flew her son back to Bogota, treating him to a flight on Delta One after he flooded her with Colombian gifts.

“He loves Colombia and is obsessed with the people, the culture, the church down there. He’s teaching people that are ex-members of the cartel and he’s like, ‘Mom, it is like so crazy cool how people want redemption,’” Lisa shared.

Upon Jack’s return to the South American country, he was dealt with a new mission president and attended a zone conference for hundreds of missionaries, where his position was upgraded.

“They all go and Jack became AP,” she revealed, seemingly confirming Jack is now working as an assistant president. “I was like, ‘Oh, do you want that job?’ I’m like, ‘Don’t you want to be out?’ It’s crazy and he loves it, so now that his health has been cleared, he flies all over Bogota on these little tiny planes. They fly city to city and do zone conferences. They do education and he still does service.”

Jack has been doing so well in Colombia that Lisa and John received a note from his mission president.

“He wrote John and I the sweetest letter, but I won’t tell Jack what’s in it until he gets home. His head would get too big, but he’s loving his mission and he doesn’t have much longer left,” Lisa explained. “It flies by because you get to talk once a week … It’s very different.”

“I love sending him packages. I have more than not put money in his account. He has an Amex, but has a limit of $1,500,” she added.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season five reunion continues on Wednesday, January 29, at 9/8c on Bravo.
