“If you just tuned in to us after all these years, lap it up. And if you’re in Melbourne… you’re coming to the party too late. You may get your wish. I may be dead.”

“Lets think positive,” his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson said.

“That doesn’t work in real life,” Sandilands responded.

While discussing his diagnosis, Sandilands explained his condition is “not a blockage”.

“It’s like, imagine your blood vessel is the garden hose, and the garden hose is weak and it blisters out like a big bubble, you know, like a puncture in it, like a bike tire with a big bubble that bubbles the aneurysm, so it’s not blocked,” he said.

Speaking of how he was diagnosed, Sandilands said he been been having headaches.

The star, who was off the airwaves sick on Tuesday and Friday last week, revealed he was undergoing tests after a cardiologist appointment.

He was then called on Friday with news he would need surgery over the coming weeks.

“They can either do keyhole surgery, or they’ll have to cut away parts of my skull and open up my head to fix it,” he said.

The radio host said said he would need up to eight weeks off the air.

It’s not the first obstacle he’s been forced to overcome.

After a challenging childhood and being essentially homeless at the age of 15, Sandilands has had a remarkable rise in radio over the years, becoming one of the most-talked about names on the Australian airwaves.

The star is best known for The Kyle and Jackie O Show with Henderson, who has been his co-host on the air since the mid-2000s.

“If I could really live it over again I’d change nothing because all roads lead to this,” Sandilands told Anh Do.

“I think people that listen to the show regularly, that listen a lot realise I’m not a bad person,” he said, referring to his crude humour that has landed him in hot water at times.

In 2022, Sandilands welcomed his first child, son Otto, with then-fiancée Tegan Kynaston.

The radio star tied the knot with Kynaston in a star-studded wedding in April 2023.
