Killer of Killers’ Places This Cult Favorite Actor in This Exclusive Sci-Fi Club

Joe Hill recently presented the idea of the “Nerd EGOT,” which would involve an actor that’s managed to appear in a Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, and DC Comics-based project. Some actors have managed to pull it off, but there’s another honor in the realm of sci-fi that’s exceedingly rare: a feat I’ve called the “Trinity of Terror.” The “Trinity of Terror” concerns an actor who’s appeared in the Alien, Terminator, and Predator franchises—or, better yet, has been killed by an Alien, a Terminator, and a Predator. Predator: Killer of Killers adds a new sci-fi icon to that list. Killer of Killers‘s voice cast is fairly light, due to focusing on a trio of characters. One of the most surprising additions to said voice cast is Michael Biehn, who has a small but important role in the Predator animated anthology. In fact,

What Role Does Michael Biehn Play in ‘Predator: Killer of Killers’?

Michael Biehn appears in the final segment of Predator: Killer of Killers, “The Bullet,” as Vandy, the commanding officer of Torres (Rick Gonzalez). Torres yearns to take to the air, but Vandy tells him he’s not ready and that a good pilot uses everything at his disposal. Soon, Vandy and the rest of his squadron encounter a Predator spacecraft, and its pilot starts to pick them off one by one. Torres winds up boarding his plane, the Bullet, and joining the fight until he and Vandy are the only two human fighters left. With Torres finally figuring out that the Predator can track them via their body heat, both pilots cut their engines…until Vandy decides to buy Torres some time and sacrifices himself in a kamikaze run. Even though Torres turns the Predator’s weapons against it, the victory is bittersweet…especially when the Yautja kidnap him and force him to fight to the death with Viking Ursa (Lindsay LaVanchy) and shinobi Kenji (Louis Ozawa).

Not every space war movie has to do with ‘Star Wars.’

Predator: Killer of Killers continues Michael Biehn’s tradition of portraying hardened soldiers with a heart of gold in sci-fi franchises. Kyle Reese spends the majority of The Terminator fighting to protect Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) from the menace of the T-800, yet has genuinely tender moments with her, including the scene where they make love. Aliens has Col. Dwayne Hicks growing close to Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and even working with her to destroy LV-426, preventing the Xenomorphs from infecting other victims. With the depth that Biehn brought to his roles, it’s no wonder that he was a go-to actor for James Cameron in the ’80s. But both of these characters sadly don’t survive for future films, as the T-800 murders Kyle Reese and Hicks winds up dying due to a series of malfunctions in Alien 3. Predator: Killer of Killers completes the trifecta with Vandy’s death and cements Biehn’s place in sci-fi history.

Michael Biehn Is Only One of Three Actors To Appear in the Predator, Alien and Terminator Franchises

While Michael Biehn has now been killed by a Terminator, an Alien, and a Predator, he’s only the third actor to do so. The other two actors who hold this distinction are Lance Henriksen and the late, great Bill Paxton. Paxton appears as a member of a group of punks in The Terminator, and is the T-800’s first victim. He also appears in Predator 2 as Detective Jerry Lambert, who attempts to fight the Predator stalking Los Angeles…but is overwhelmed by the Yautja’s brute strength. Aliens features Paxton as Colonial Marine Hudson, who’s infamous for his “Game over, man!” rant once he learns how deadly the Xenomorphs really are. Henriksen is a bit more complicated: he appeared as the synthetic Bishop in Aliens but also stars as Charles Weyland, the founder of the Weyland-Yutani conglomerate, in Alien vs. Predator.

Considering the Alien films take place in the far future while Alien vs. Predator is set in the present, this causes a headache. Henriksen also appears as Detective Hal Vulkovich in The Terminator, but James Cameron originally wanted him to play the T-800. Michael Biehn continues to be a major part of sci-fi history, thanks to his unique hat trick. Now, the question remains: who’s the next actor to join the “Trinity of Terror?”
