Katie Maloney Calls Scheana a “Male Sympathizer” Over Sandoval

Katie Maloney took aim at Scheana Shay following the latest episode of Vanderpump Rules, which featured Scheana struggling with her feelings toward Tom Sandoval.

After Scheana opened up about the loss of her friendship with Sandoval, 41, following his affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, 29, Katie, 37, said she views Scheana, 38, as a “male sympathizer” both for her behavior with Tom Sandoval and with Tom Schwartz, 40, as Ariana Madix, 38, refused to “co-sign” Scheana’s apparent desire to reconcile with her ex-boyfriend.

“Apparently, they’re not my audience when it comes to anything I’m feeling if Tom Sandoval is involved. I felt like I could open up to them because we were in a good close place, but that immediately made me feel stupid. I don’t think they cared because it’s not about me,” Scheana lamented on the March 5 episode of the Pump Rules: After Show.

But, according to Ariana, she believes she’s been “very understanding” of the sadness Scheana faced after Sandoval cheated on her.

“I don’t know what else I need to do,” she admitted.

As for Katie, she shaded Scheana’s feelings for Sandoval as “ridiculous.”

“I understand you guys were close at a point, but also, you’ve been very very close with Ariana so if you were having a hard time making a choice, this person made it very easy on you because they’ve been an a**hole to you,” she noted, signaling to Sandoval’s ill comments about Scheana. “You should be very happy that they made this decision very easy on you. But Scheana, the thing that I’ve understood about her is she’s kind of a male sympathizer. Not kind of. She is a male sympathizer. What happened when Tom and I were going through a divorce? Suddenly, Tom was one of her very good friends who really needed her support. And during this time where there’s now Ariana and Sandoval, she just really needs that friendship with Tom Sandoval.”

“There’s something about male validation that she really seeks out,” Katie added.

Ariana also noted that Scheana may feel conflicted about Sandoval due to what he’s said about her.

“I think maybe also because he said that he didn’t give a f*ck about her, they were never really friends, that hurt her feelings, obviously, as it should, but instead of being like, ’That really hurt my feelings … I don’t need to put stock in this person anymore,’ I feel like she saw that as a, now she needs to try to get that back somehow,” Ariana noted.

Whatever the case, Ariana said that if Scheana does decide to offer forgiveness to Sandoval, she won’t be the one approving the decision.

“She has every right to do that and can but I don’t think I need to be the one that co-signs it,” she stated.

During another segment of the Pump Rules: After Show, Lala Kent, 33, and James Kennedy, 32, weighed in on the drama — and butted heads while doing so.

“It’s really tough because of how Scheana and Ariana are and what happened when it went down. I can see both sides of it but I can see why Ariana just doesn’t want to hear it … Even though it’s her bestie and she loves her and I know it’s tough, it’s Tom and she’s not trying to hear that. She doesn’t care. I know I wouldn’t,” James reasoned.

Meanwhile, Lala said it would’ve been different if Ariana handled Scheana more gently and potentially said, “I acknowledge what you’re feeling. I really can’t imagine what it was like to lose two of your best friends as well. Just so you know, I am here for you from afar but I can’t talk with you about it. I just can’t. At this point in time, you’ve gotta find a new audience.”

“It was that, like Scheana didn’t matter,” Lala explained. “Ariana even acknowledged [James] at the reunion, saying that your feelings were valid, that Sandoval was one of your best friends and like a brother to you. Has anyone acknowledged the friendship that Sandoval and Scheana had?“

“Yeah. More than they acknowledged me,” James replied. “They basically said Tom and I were never friends. And everyone was fine to listen and agree with that. I don’t notice anyone fighting for that, not [Lala] … [Lala is] okay with Tom saying we were never brothers.”

At that point, Lala clapped back at James, telling him not to step to her if he’s not going to “make any f*cking sense.”

“I’m not okay with that at all. I lost my mind on it,” she argued. “I defended you and people said your feelings are valid. They came and they babied you. No one has ever said to Scheana ‘Your feelings are valid.’”

Still, James wondered, “Who came and babied me?”
