STARZ has released a wild new trailer for their upcoming historical drama series, Mary & George. It’s based on a scandalous true story, and it stars Julianne Moore as Mary Villiers, Nicholas Galitzine as George Villiers, with Tony Curran, Laurie Davidson, Nicola Walker, Niamh Algar, Trine Dyrholm, Sean Gilder, Adrian Rawlins, and Mark O’Halloran as Sir Francis.
The show’s synopsis reads:
Mary & George is an audacious historical psychodrama mini-series starring Academy Award-winner Julianne Moore as Mary Villiers, Countess of Buckingham, and Nicholas Galitzine as George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham, about a treacherous mother and son who schemed, seduced and killed to conquer the Court of England and the bed of King James I.
Mary & George is a new series created by British playwright D.C. Moore, who previously wrote Not Safe for Work, Killing Eve, and Temple. The story is adapted from the book from Benjamin Woolley, originally titled “The King’s Assassin: The Secret Plot to Murder King James”. It features episodes directed by Florian Cossen, Alex Winckler, and Oliver Hermanus (Shirley Adams, Living).
