JoJo Siwa On Kath Ebbs Split, Chris Hughes Relationship

On Saturday, Australian influencer Kath Ebbs said that JoJo Siwa had ended their relationship at the Celebrity Big Brother wrap party on Friday night — just hours after the two had reunited following JoJo’s stint on the British reality show.

In case you missed it, JoJo entered the house in early April, and made no secret of the fact that being in there had made her reflect on her life as she opened up about both her gender identity and sexuality while on the show. She also formed an incredibly close relationship with Love Island star Chris Hughes, with some viewers convinced that the two had fallen for one another, and that JoJo was cheating on Kath.

And on Monday morning, JoJo and Chris had their first interview since leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house on Friday, and JoJo confirmed that she broke up with Kath at the wrap party after realizing on the show that she’d been tolerating things in her life that she “never should have been OK with in the first place.”

Speaking on British breakfast show This Morning, JoJo said: “Honestly, when I went into the house, day one: Fun, day two: Fun… Well, actually wasn’t that fun, with you know who [Mickey Rourke], but then day three… I was now in my own thoughts, away from everyone I know, away from outsiders’ opinions, away from everything, and I sat with myself, and from that point on, I realized things that I was OK with in my life that I should never have been OK with.”

When asked if she was alluding to her relationship, JoJo explained: “Just so many things, that is one of them, but so many things. And then I obviously wanted to hold [the thoughts] inside because I didn’t want to air that out very publicly, but there were countless things that I was like: ‘That’s not something that I should be OK with, and I don’t need to be OK with it, and I’m not happy.’ And I knew as soon as I got out, I wanted to fix things in my life and make the changes that I needed to make.”

“I think you have this experience that’s so exhilarating, it’s 20 days but it feels like four and a half years, and the first thing you want to do when you get out is just exactly what you need to do in your life to make it as good as you can,” she went on. “I think I realized just how not great things were that I was pretending were great, and it’s been hard, but it’s been good. I’m very happy with where I am now, I’m very grateful.”

JoJo then addressed how “quickly” her and Kath’s split happened, with the star sharing: “I’ll be honest, that was not a plan, that was not an intention, that was not supposed to happen like that. Initially, I was told that the wrap party was something [Kath] didn’t want to attend, and then about an hour into the wrap party, they decided they want to. I was genuinely just going to have a conversation before, and then it just led to another.”

JoJo was then asked if she’d like her and Chris’s friendship to turn into something more, which she laughed off without ruling out entirely. She said: “Look, he’s a great guy, it’s platonic. We have a lot of fun together; life is life, and I don’t know any future of anything, but I’m really grateful for our dynamic that we have and our bond that we have, and whatever life does, life will do.”
