Jimmy Barnes shares ‘bad news’ from hospital bed
Jimmy Barnes is back in hospital just days after returning to Australia following a tour in New Zealand.
The Aussie rock star kept fans in the loop about the “unexpected surgery”, which appears to be a hip problem, with a social media post from his hospital bed, just as he did late last year when he underwent open-heart surgery.
“I’ve got some bad news unfortunately,” the Cold Chisel front man began, with the detailed post accompanied by a selfie with his wife of 43 years, Jane.

“I had a twinge in my hip when I was leaving Dunedin on Thursday morning and by late last night the pain was unbearable so I went off to hospital.
“The doctors have recommended a remedial medical procedure ASAP followed by some physio to address the issue.
“These doctors don’t muck around! Providing all goes to plan, I’m expected to make a full recovery in six weeks.”
The 68-year-old revealed the “unexpected surgery” will impact some upcoming solo shows he had planned for August and September, saying ticket holders will be contacted with further details in the coming days.

“As you know, I hate to let anyone down, but I’m also never going to compromise the quality of my gigs,” Barnsey told fans.
“I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause everyone – I HATE moving shows! – but thank you for understanding.”
The Working Class Man singer didn’t reveal any further details on his current condition.
“Just rest and get well my darling dadda,” daughter Ella May commented on the post.
Singer Guy Sebastian added: “Get well Jimmy we’re all behind you”.
It’s the latest health setback for Barnes, who underwent a major operation last December, after a bacterial infection he’d been battling for two weeks spread to his heart.
It infected an otherwise healthy valve that had been replaced some years ago “due to a congenital defect”, the singer told fans at the time.
