Jensen Ackles & Eric Dane Drama Countdown Gets Release Date, First Images

Prime Video has released the first-look images for its upcoming thriller drama, Countdown, starring Jensen Ackles (The Boys, Supernatural) and Eric Dane (The Last Ship, Euphoria). 

The 13-episode crime series, created by showrunner and executive producer Derek Haas (One Chicago), will see the Supernatural alum taking on the lead role as LAPD detective Mark Meachum, who is recruited into a secret task force of undercover agents following the mysterious murder of the Department of Homeland Security’s officer. 

Countdown will mark Ackles’ latest project with Prime Video following his well-received performance as Soldier Boy in The Boys and its spin-off, Gen V.

When is the Countdown release date for the Jensen Ackles & Eric Dane TV show?

Countdown is set to premiere its first three episodes globally on Wednesday, June 25. The project received a rare series order from Amazon MGM Studios last year, giving it a total of 13 episodes. It is a notable move for the platform, considering most of its shows consist of only eight to 10 episodes.

The synopsis reads as follows: “When an officer with the Department of Homeland Security is murdered in broad daylight, LAPD detective Mark Meachum, portrayed by Ackles, is recruited to a secret task force, alongside undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement, to investigate. But the hunt for the killer soon uncovers a plot far more sinister than anyone could have imagined, kicking off a race against time to save a city of millions.”

In addition to Ackles as Mark and Dane as Nathan Blythe, Countdown also stars Jessica Camacho (Bosch: Legacy, Another Life) as Amber Oliveras, Violett Beane (Death and Other Details, Truth or Dare) as Evan Shepherd, Uli Latukefu (Young Rock, The Last Anniversary) as Lucas Finau, and Elliot Knight (Sinbad, Color Out of Space) as Keyonte Bell.
