Japan: Switch unit sales have surpassed 32 million

The Nintendo Switch may be on its way out soon, but that hasn’t stopped Nintendo’s hybrid console from surpassing sales milestones. It has been breaking records and selling in high numbers all around the world. One of the biggest examples of this is in Japan, where the Switch has been very popular.

In fact, with the latest Japanese weekly gaming sales report from Media Create, another sales milestone has been reached. As of this week, the Nintendo Switch has accumulated lifetime sales of 32,027,938 units. This means that the console has now surpassed 32,000,000 units sold in Japan, making it the third best-selling console in the country.

So, what are the 2 consoles that are ahead of the Switch? They’re both Nintendo handhelds. The Game Boy and Game Boy Color are #2 at a combined 32,470,000 units sold. At #1 is the Nintendo DS at 32,990,000. It is very possible, if not inevitable, that the Switch will surpass both by the end off the year
