IRON FIST Will Be Returning to the MCU in EYES OF WAKANDA Animated Series — GeekTyrant

During the Marvel Animation presentation at D23 over the weekend, Marvel showed off a clip from its upcoming Eyes of Wakanda spinoff series, which looks interesting.

The series will consist of four episodes and according to producer Ryan Coogler, the series will focus on one aspect of the nation of Wakanda… the War Dogs. In the same way the Dora Miljae are tasked with protecting the king, the War Dogs are tasked with protecting Wakanda.

The footage features a new character named Noni who is described as a “disruptor.” The story will also dive into the history of Wakanda, and it will also bring Iron Fist back into the MCU fold.

During the event, the creative team behind the series teased additional heroes from “secret cities” whose names were also titles, and had a “glowing fist.”

There’s no word on if this will be Finn Jones’s version of Danny Rand or if it will be an all-new version of Iron Fist from the comics. We’ll just have to wait and see, but the character will be back!

The story for the series is said to follow characters from Wakanda tracking down vibranium artifacts. When talking about the series, producer Brad Winderbau said: “We’re exploring so many amazing avenues on the animated side.

Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show, fits right into our sacred MCU timeline continuity. [Black Panther director Ryan Coogler] is a producer on it, Todd Harris is one of our long-time storyboard artists who directs it.

“It’s about Wakandan history and mythology, and it’s really cool. It looks amazing. And it feels like, ‘Okay I’m getting an animated look into the MCU.'”

Jones previously talked about the possibility of returning saying: “I would love to continue playing that character. I think there’s a lot of room for growth. Personally, where I would like to see the reintroduction of the character would be something like a Heroes for Hire TV series.

“I think that would be the most dynamic and fun way to reintroduce those characters. I loved working with Mike and I loved the on-screen chemistry between Danny and Luke.

“I think it’s a really interesting creative place that show can be taken in. I’d love to pick up that mantle again and keep moving this character forward and make the best possible Iron Fist there could be.”

Eyes of Wakanda is created by Todd Harris, and as of right now, there’s no premiere date set for the series, but it was previously teased for 2024.
