Interview with Kristi A. Cole, Author of Ariadre and the Legend of the Fire Rose

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Ariadre and the Legend of the Fire Rose?

I wanted to create a world that people would enjoy visiting, so I set out to do just that! This story takes place in a forest, and I was inspired by the trees and the landscape around me. I was also inspired by my love of gardening and included many gardens and flowers in this story. Finally, I wanted the characters to have an adventure and for readers to feel like they were part of it.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Fantasy and fairytale retellings.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

The Firethorn Crown by Lea Doue, Stolen at Alpenglow by Leialoha Humphreys, The Abandoned Princess by Melanie Cellier.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The scene where Ariadre has tea with Grandmama.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I don’t have any quirky habits, but I enjoy writing outdoors when the weather is nice.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Never give up!

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

All of the life lessons that Ariadre learns along the way.
