Inside Judge Judy’s TV return: Star outsmarts old network in shock move

Judy Sheindlin is know for her hit show, Judge Judy.

The show was an instant hit with fans and ran for 25 seasons up until 2021.

Since then, the TV star has been busy working on Judy Justice on Amazon Freevee.

And now, according to Page Six, she’s making a return to linear TV with her new show, which will go head-to-head with her old CBS show.

An insider told the publication that CBS was “trying to keep Judy out of the marketplace”.

But CBS is now reportedly selling reruns of Judge Judy, while networks could pick up her new show.

In 1993, her reputation saw her feature in a Los Angeles Times article. This brought 60 Minutes knocking, and she was featured in a TV segment that brought her national recognition.

She released her first book in 1996 and retired as a family court judge that same year.

Thanks to her book, the 60 Minutes special and the LA Times article, Sheindlin was approached about starring in a reality courtroom series.

The series was hugely successful and won three Emmy awards.

Judy quickly became a household name, and the show aired all around the world.

Her newfound celebrity saw her attending movie premieres, parties and award ceremonies. She often took Jerry with her to these events.

She became known for her catchphrases on the show, like “Do I have stupid written over my forehead?” and “I’m here because I’m smart, not because I’m young and gorgeous, although I am.”

Forbes reported she made $147 million pre-tax in 2017.
