How you can support your local Hospital Foundation

Black Tie Bingo tickets on sale now; volunteer and sponsorship opportunities also available

The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital’s 29th annual Black Tie Bingo presented by Co-operators and Meridian Credit Union is coming your way on April 5. If you haven’t been yet, there are lots of ways you can get involved.

“Everyone in the community is welcome to join,” said Elizabeth Stewart, Director, Community Engagement & Communications at The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital. “Gala tickets start at $375 and we also have the more casual Soiree taking place on the same night with tickets at $95.”

Stewart pointed out that the giving of time is also a meaningful way to contribute. The Gala needs over 50 volunteers on the night of the event to make it a success. Businesses can participate also, by donating prizes to the silent or live auction, hosting a corporate table, or by sponsoring.

The Black Tie Bingo Gala is being held this year at the University of Guelph Event Centre. Guests will enjoy a red-carpet reception, an exquisite three-course menu prepared by the University’s renowned hospitality team, live music, silent and live auctions, fundraising, four thrilling games of Bingo and the opportunity to hear about the hospital’s most urgent priority needs.

For the second year in a row, the Foundation is also offering the Black Tie Bingo Soiree, on the same night. For just $95 a ticket, Soiree attendees will convene at the Spring Mill Distillery by John Sleeman & Sons, and enjoy complimentary appetizers, a signature cocktail or non-alcoholic option, late night coffee bar, online access to the Gala’s silent auction, and a fun bingo-themed game with raffle prizes.

Sophie and Nathan Skoufis, Guelph Family Martial Arts, recently shared on social media, “We LOVE the Black Tie Gala because it’s more than just a night of elegance; it’s a celebration of community, generosity, and coming together for a cause that touches us all. Guelph General Hospital is there for our families, friends, and neighbors when we need it most, and this event is our chance to give back. Every dollar raised helps provide life-saving care and equipment, making a real difference for those in our community!”

Every dollar raised at the Gala and Soiree will be directed towards purchasing patient care equipment supporting the nursing team and frontline healthcare providers at Guelph General with the tools they need to deliver compassionate, high-quality care, every day. From the smallest patient comfort items such as toothbrushes and warm blankets, to diagnostic imaging equipment like the MRI machine that was replaced in 2023, all patient care equipment is funded by donations.

The Skoufis completed, “The Gala is an event unlike any other and is something we look forward to throughout the year. We’re proud to be part of something so meaningful; because when we support each other, we all thrive. See you there!”
