How To Unlock Every Operator

Keeping in line with previous entries, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 features a variety of playable characters called Operators. These allow you to play with a bit of personalization while still using your prized AK-74 assault rifle (or any other weapon you fancy). But just like your favorite weapons and equipment, you won’t have immediate access to every character though.

There are 21 total Operators to play through the multiplayer and Zombies modes with. They’re further broken down into two opposing factions called Rogue Black Ops and Crimson One, although those distinctions really aren’t relevant outside the campaign.

What Black Ops 6 Operators Are Available at Launch

Thankfully, there are a decent amount of Operators to choose between for your first matches. Those playing the standard edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be able to use eight operators specifically, with four belonging to each faction. Here’s the breakdown of which ones are available upon starting the game:

  • Caine
  • Carver
  • Grey
  • Maya
  • Nazir
  • Niran
  • Weaver
  • Westpoint

Anyone who’s playing through Game Pass will have the standard edition and should start off with the same Operators above. There’s also an additional Operator available for players who have played a recent Call of Duty title.

You won’t be stuck with that initial selection for too long. Eight more Operators can be unlocked just by increasing your Player Level. This is a lot easier to track compared to previous entries, which commonly required you to get a certain number of kills over time or within a particular match. These are the characters you can unlock over time, as well as what player level you’ll need to reach.

  • Alvarez – Level 7
  • Toro – Level 10
  • Payne – Level 13
  • Rossi – Level 16
  • Bayan – Level 22
  • Bailey – Level 28
  • Marshall – Level 34
  • Stone – Level 40

The remaining characters require you to pay a bit extra money for. Five additional Operators are currently exclusive to the digital-only Vault Edition or the Vault Edition upgrade for those who purchased the standard edition. All of them are immediately available, no matter what level you’re at. Here are the additional characters currently exclusive to the Vault Edition:

  • Adler
  • Brutus
  • Klaus
  • Park
  • Woods

There is one standout that you might have access to without purchasing the Vault Edition. Pre-ordering any digital edition will have provided you with the Woods Operator Pack, which includes him along with three skins.

It’s also possible to access the Woods Operator pack through Game Pass, even if you’re only playing the standard edition included in the subscription. All you would have needed to do is to log in to Call of Duty: Warzone or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III on your Game Pass platform before October 25, 2024. You should be able to use the pack and the skins as long as you keep up your subscription.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has some fun Operators for its launch, with more sure to come in the upcoming seasons. Feel free to take your time unlocking the ones you want. Any that unlock from leveling up will stay available even after you’ve reset with a Prestige. If you prefer playing multiplayer to level up but need a crash course on how to prepare for it, we’ve got you covered!
