Let’s start with an exciting cover reveal! If you loved B.K. Borison’s First-Time Caller, you’re going to want to check out this new one, And Now, Back to You. While the first novel in Borison’s series took inspiration from Sleepless in Seattle, this new one is a twist on When Harry Met Sally. So yeah, we’re just keeping the Meg Ryan movies going—and we’re not mad about it! This book is out on February 24, 2026: just in time to cure your Valentine’s Day hangover.
Netflix has released a first look trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming adaptation of the classic novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The film stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster. Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz also star. Frankenstein will be available to stream on Netflix in November of this year.
We’ve also gotten a trailer for The Thursday Murder Club! The film, directed by Chris Columbus, is based on the novel by Richard Osman. The story centers around four senior sleuths living together in a retirement home. It stars Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, Naomi Ackie, Jonathan Pryce, Richard E. Grant, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes. The Thursday Murder Club is set to premiere on Netflix on August 28.
More news for romance lovers: Ashley Poston’s most recent adult romance novel Sounds Like Love will be out this month. But she’s already teasing fans with what to expect from her next release, and this time, she’s taking inspiration from a beloved classic. “My romance for next summer, which I can kind of talk about … I can say it’s Secret Garden-esque,” Poston revealed in an interview with People. We can expect this one to come out in 2026.
Fans wanted Elle Fanning to be cast as Effie Trinket in the upcoming Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping prequel. And guess what? Fans are getting their wish! But how does Elizabeth Banks feel about passing the Effie Trinket torch? “I’m super excited,” Banks told People. “I texted the producers as well, and I think she’s perfect… I’m excited for the next generation to have their Effie.” The movie will be out in November 2026.
One Piece season 2 is coming to Netflix soon, and there will be exciting new additions to the cast! Fans of the manga are going to be pleased to see Mr. 0, the head of the criminal organization Baroque Works, brought to life by Joe Manganiello (True Blood). With the addition of Mr. 0, we’re also getting a lot of new characters connected to the fan-favorite character. David Dastmalchian (Late Night With the Devil) will play Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson (Batwoman) will be Mr. 5, and Daniel Lasker (Raised By Wolves) joins the cast as Mr. 9. Lera Abova, Sophia Anne Caruso, Charithra Chandran, and Jazzara Jaslyn will also play agents of Baroque Works. A release date has yet to be announced.

It’s Pride month, which is the perfect excuse to buy and read a bunch of queer books. One method I really enjoy for finding new books is to take the recommendations of my favorite authors. Carmen Maria Machado hasn’t led me astray yet. Unfortunately, I don’t have these authors on speed dial, but luckily, they usually have shared their recommendations publicly.
Below I’ve put together queer book recommendations from 11 beloved queer authors. Some are from interviews where they discussed their favorite books, and others are book blurbs. Both the authors’ works and the books they recommend cover a wide spectrum of genres and formats, including graphic novels, literary fiction, poetry, biographies, horror, sci-fi, YA fantasy, and more, so there’s something for every kind of reader.
