‘Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage’ Boss Promises a Fan-Favorite Character Will Return for Season 2

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 finds Mandy (Emily Osment) moving up in the world. Everything about her current life is about to change as she becomes Channel 7’s weather girl on a more permanent basis. As it happens when people change jobs, they lose touch with coworkers who had become friends. For Mandy, it’s her fellow waitress at the diner, Beth (Casey Wilson). “Building out that [Channel 7] world is going to be important,” showrunner Steve Holland told TV Line when asked if Mandy will now make other friends after leaving the diner. However, the show won’t discard Mandy’s former life because she and Beth are genuine friends. Holland explained:

“Just because she’s not at the diner doesn’t mean that Casey’s character won’t still be a part of Mandy’s world. We love her. She’s a terrific actress and it’s nice for Mandy to have a friend.”

Troubles Continue in ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Season 2

The couple had their ups and downs throughout Season 1. The season finale saw Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy pursue different things with Mandy’s job at the station and Georgie’s new demanding business undertaking. You know what that means — more friction and chaos. “Moving into next season, one of the things that seems interesting to us is they both have these big wins in some way — he has his new business and she has this new job — but those wins are also going to complicate their relationship,” Holland told TV Line after the May finale. “It’s going to make it more difficult for them to find time to be a couple. Having those real stakes is part of what we like about the show,” he added.

For Mandy, reuniting with her former boss and ex-lover will be a challenge. Mandy will be working with Scott (Christopher Gorham) again, and that might rekindle old feelings. Despite Gorham being cast in another show, the character will continue to be a part of Georgie & Mandy. “We don’t want to recast. We love Chris. That’s a CBS show as well, so our hope is that we can work it out with their production team when we need him, and we can get ahead,” Holland explained when asked how Gorham’s casting in Sheriff Country affects his show.

Georgie is hardworking, but this venture increases pressure on him. If providing for a family was hard, risking ruining his family’s life will be back-breaking. “One of the things that we liked about is that it makes the stakes higher. Georgie has always had this drive to succeed, but now there’s a lot of pressure on him. It’s not just his future that he’s risking. It’s also his mother and his sister’s house that he’s risking. We like piling as much on Georgie’s shoulders as we can,” the showrunner explained.
