Found Season 1 Ending’s “Twists & Turns” Teased By EP

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Found season 1, episode 12!

Summary

  • Found’s season 1 finale will have plenty of “twists and turns” according to executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll.
  • Gabi’s morally correct decision to turn in Sir doesn’t mean the end of their story when season 2 arrives.
  • Sir’s perspective could become an asset if it helps to save people, allowing him to continue assisting the team in season 2.

Found executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll has revealed what can be expected from the upcoming season finale of the unique procedural drama. The show follows Gabi Mosely, manager of a crisis management firm that searches for missing persons. She is aided in her cases by Sir Evans, a man who kidnapped Gabi as a child that she now has locked in her own basement. The show balances her cases with her secret, building tension throughout every new episode.

Speaking with Collider, Carroll has teased that Found‘s morally gray story will have plenty of “twists and turns” during the season 1 finale. The executive producer indicated many surprises are on their way, comparing the final episode to a train crash. Check out what Carroll had to say below:

My hope is that people will be surprised and on the edge of their seat. We have a lot of twists and turns in this series as a whole. It starts in the pilot with the reveal that our hero maybe has some non-heroic tendencies. That is very much a fabric of the show and we do continue that right into the finale. When I was pitching it with the studio and network, I used to describe Season 1 as, ‘We’ve got these two trains in two different timelines that are on a collision course for present day.’ It will very much feel like that, as we barrel towards those last episodes.

How Will Found Season 1 End?

The penultimate episode of Found revealed that Dhan had been the one to help Gabi locate her previous kidnapper after so many years, but that he was unaware she’d been keeping in in her basement. By the end of the episode, Gabi decides to turn Sir in to the police, even if it means she too will get into trouble. With one last episode remaining in season 1, it appears the finale will be just as harrowing as Carroll teased.

Although Sir feels a connection with Gabi, his crime of previously kidnapping her still makes him a dangerous individual that can’t be let back into the general populous. This makes her decision to turn him in the morally correct choice, even if it harms her in the process. However, with season 2 of the show already confirmed, it doesn’t seem like her decision will be the end of the pair’s story.

Found Interview: Star Shanola Hampton On How Gabi Justifies The Dark Secret In Her Basement

Screen Rant interviewed Shanola Hampton about what drew her to the character of Gabi and how she justifies abducting Sir in Found.

It’s possible that, when Gabi decides to turn him in, a series of events allows her to continue using his advice to save people in a more official capacity. If it becomes common knowledge that Sir’s perspective assisted in multiple missing persons cases, he could be used as an asset for the entire team in season 2. This could maintain the premise of Found going into the next season while also differentiating it enough to create a fresh, engaging follow-up.

The season 1 finale of Found airs Tuesday, January 16 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on NBC.
