Paget Brewster offers an update on how filming for Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 is going. Originally supposed to start production last summer, the sophomore year of the Paramount+ revival was pushed back to 2024 due to the historic dual Hollywood strikes. Work on the procedural, which is essentially a continuation of CBS’ original Criminal Minds show, has been quietly progressing, with the series expected to finally resolve the mystery about Gold Star from season 1.

Sharing an image of herself on the set of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 is Brewster. Check out the adorable photo below:

Dressed in her usual attire as BAU chief Emily Prentiss, the image itself doesn’t reveal much about what the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 cast and crew are filming. That being said, Brewster shares that they are currently shooting “next to the train tracks and a waste treatment.”

What Emily Prentiss’ Arc Will Be In Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2.

Since Paramount+’s renewal of the series came ahead of the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1 finale, showrunner Erica Messer and her team were able to plant plot seeds for what comes next for the profilers. While Elias Voit has been arrested and is currently in custody, his role in the show is far from over, since he has direct knowledge of what Gold Star actually is. Beyond the ongoing case, however, there’s also interest in how Criminal Minds: Evolution will move its heroes’ personal lives forward — something that had increased focus in its debut year.

The majority of Prentiss’ people had their arcs in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1. However, her storyline was mostly tied to her role as the BAU chief and her team’s hunt for Sicarius. Messer previously teased that Deputy Director Bailey’s death will weigh on Prentiss’ shoulders, with whom she worked closely in the show’s freshman year. While this will establish continuity in the series, it’s far from the personal stories for Prentiss that have been lacking. It would be great to see her life outside the walls of the FBI office in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2.
