Queen Latifah’s CBS crime-drama The Equalizer has received a promising season 6 update, after the network cancelled several shows. The Equalizer was among a group of ongoing series not to receive a renewal decision, and the others have not been encouraging company. So far, S.W.A.T., FBI: Most Wanted, and FBI: International have all been cancelled to address CBS’ crowded upcoming slate, which includes spinoffs of Blue Bloods and Fire Country.
However, there’s reason to hope for The Equalizer season 6. Per Deadline, the show remains on the bubble, and discussions to renew the show are currently underway. If negotiations go the show’s way, the report indicates that the next season will likely be its last. It is worth noting, however, that The Equalizer is produced by Universal TV rather than in-house, and all three of the recently cancelled series similarly come from outside studios.
