Elon Musk Meets Benjamin Netanyahu In Israel – Deadline

Elon Musk met Benjamin Netanyahu today as the X owner toured sites of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

The Times of Israel reported that the Israeli Prime Minister attended a tour of an Israeli Kibbutz ravaged by the October 7 onslaught alongside Musk, before Musk heard briefings from a local council leader and a representative of the Israeli Defence Forces about the massacres in the Kfar Aza kibbutz.

Musk’s tour of Israel will also see him meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog along with other Israelis whose relatives have been held by Hamas in Gaza.

Herzog’s office announced the meeting on Sunday night, according to Reuters, adding: “In their meeting, the president will emphasize the need to act to combat rising antisemitism online.”

The move comes at an interesting time for Musk’s relationship with the Jewish community. The X owner recently reposted a Twitter user who wrote: “Jewish communities have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them.”

A wealth of major brands subsequently pulled ads from X including the likes of Disney and Paramount, and Musk has filed a lawsuit.

Musk met Netanyahu prior to the October 7 attacks when Netanyahu visited a Tesla facility on a U.S. tour which included a meeting with Joe Biden.

Musk’s visit to Israel comes off the back of a momentous weekend after the first group of hostages were released from Gaza six weeks after they were taken, in return for a pause in the fighting and the return of Palestinian detainees in the opposite direction. The final group of hostages to be freed under the initial deal between Israel and Hamas is expected to emerge from Gaza later today, with Hamas saying it is seeking to extend the current four-day pause in fighting and increase the number of hostages released.
