Drake Called Akademiks To End Beef With ‘Close Friend’ SZA

Drake noticed Akademiks coming for SZA on his platforms earlier this year, but as a close friend of the New Jersey singer, he wanted to step in and put an end to it.

The media personality sat down withVlad TV for a new interview published on Friday (November 3), where he revealed Drizzy personally called him to put the kibosh on his issues with SZA over the summer. And unlike Ak’s response to TDE boss Punch who tried to do the same thing (in a more aggressive manor, however), he actually called a truce afterward.

“When Drake called me [about SZA] I was like [what?!]” he began. “Drake was like, she’s a very close friend of his. It was a very friendly call. He was just kind of trying to see what I thought about it because he was like ‘Ak, I rock with you too.’ They were doing the album at the time and he was like, ‘She’s affected by things like that.’

He continued: “And I guess he was just like, ‘There’s gotta be some middle ground here,’ and I just was like, ‘Honestly, that was an axe I had to grind from a couple years ago. I got it off and I don’t got no issue with her.’ And I actually went back on my platform and said, ‘Listen I’m sending you nothing but love and life and I’ll continue to do so.”

During a Rumble stream in August, Akademiks admitted he was “on some liquor” before launching into an offensive tirade about SZA’s body shape and enhancement surgery for several minutes, scrutinizing every aspect of her appearance.

“The titties is not looking tiddying,” he said while examining a photo of the TDE singer. “Right now, I can’t distinguish the titty from the stomach. You look like you just got a whole muthafuckin’ bulletproof vest on. Your whole shit is flat.”

Turning his attention to the singer’s weight, he said: “You love to eat, you are an eater. It’s cool, I love to eat too … But y’all be fat just like me, looking like a linebacker, your neck thick as a 32-pack of franks, and now y’all acting like y’all bad. You fat as fuck, let’s keep it a bean.

“You know you’ve been under the knife mad times. We don’t care how much you show that little botched BBL; you need to get back to the doctor one more time, and I’ma stand on it!”

The Off the Record host didn’t stop there as he went on to pick apart SZA’s hairline before calling her “a fat mini Lizzo.”

“Second of all, I don’t know what’s going on with your head,” he said. “Ain’t no way you catch a tan on this part of your hairline, and this part is like another color, so I gotta imagine this is a lacefront.

“But SZA, let me give you the truth — this is the ether that’s gonna make your fucking soul burn: I don’t care how many albums you sell, you double-chin chick, you are just as fat as me. The doctors, the surgeons can’t fix you.

“The lip gloss, the fake teeth — it doesn’t matter. You’re just a fat mini Lizzo. You make great music, we love you because you make great music, but you will never be one of those bitches that we’re looking at and our dicks get really naturally hard for.”

Punch, who has overseen SZA’s career since signing her to TDE back in 2013, appeared to respond to Akademiks’ insults on social media shortly afterward.

“Man I’ve been so conflicted the [past] couple of days as to address this dude publicly or not,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “I’m not playing no internet games… He have to answer for those disrespectful things he said about SZA.”

SZA Wondered If Drake Was Sabotaging Her During Making Of ‘Slime You Out’

After catching wind of the thinly-veiled threat, Ak took aim at Punch on a separate Rumble stream, in which he mocked the record executive for trying to “Suge Knight” him.

“None of y’all are Suge Knight. You don’t strike fear in my heart. There is no, ‘Oh my God, he’s going to get me!’” he began. “I did content about the biggest killers in the world in Chicago. I’ve talked about the worst people you could imagine … I won’t be sitting here scared of an older n-gga who claims he’s a ‘thug.’”

He then called out Punch directly, saying: “Mr. Punch from TDE, you didn’t have to delete your tweet … I’m not scared of you. I don’t know nobody that’s scared of you and I don’t know nobody that would think you be doing nothing.

“So please, pipe down, and rather than delete the tweet, don’t send the tweet. Because if you look at my tweet history, I leave them up for all to see.”

It wasn’t the first time Akademiks was rude towards SZA. Back in 2017, he referred to the S.O.S. hitmaker as “one of them Amazon bitches” during a gaming livestream and said she wasn’t a “top vote” to appear on his now-defunct Complex show Everyday Struggle.

Then, in February of this year, SZA reportedly blocked Akademiks on social media after he shared an image of her in a pink bikini on a Twitch livestream while discussing her BBL.
