Drake Bell Shares Proposal for a Grown-Up ‘Drake & Josh’ Reboot

Drake Bell is on board for a Drake & Josh reboot — and he already has some ideas in mind.

In an interview on the Behind the Velvet Rope podcast which dropped Tuesday, December 10, Bell, 38, revealed that he still has love for his old Nickelodeon show, where he starred alongside Josh Peck. He even shared potential concepts should a reboot get picked up.

“I have a really special place in my heart for Drake & Josh and I would love to revisit the character,” Bell said. “I’d love to revisit something with Josh. My dream is to do something kind of like Curb Your Enthusiasm, where we’re playing ourselves but trying to navigate life today.”

Drake & Josh aired on Nickelodeon from 2004 to 2007. On the show, Bell played Drake Parker, whose mother (Nancy Sullivan) married Walter Nichols (Jonathan Goldstein), the father of Josh Nichols (Peck), making them stepbrothers. Over the course of the series, the titular characters navigate changes within the home, growing throughout high school, and evading pranks from Drake’s younger sister, Megan (Miranda Cosgrove).

Elsewhere in the Behind the Velvet Rope interview, Bell detailed how he imagines a meta Drake & Josh reboot would pan out.

“Maybe I’m trying to get him back together with me, and he’s like, ‘Dude, you’re annoying, get away,’” Bell said. “I don’t know what it is, but I would love to do some kind of Entourage or Curb Your Enthusiasm-type thing with Josh one day.”

Bell’s most recent television stint came in the form of The Masked Singer, on which he anonymously competed as the Ice King. His identity was revealed in the November 20 episode of the competition.
