Dolores Catania shared details about Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga filming separately for season 14 of Real Housewives of New Jersey, denied playing both sides, and addressed why they lost their cast trip.
Can Melissa survive without having Teresa for a storyline? According to reports, Teresa refused to engage with her on camera. Though some claim Melissa brings little to the table, she can always scrounge for ways to keep badmouthing her sister-in-law.
“No one knew how it was going to be. I don’t know that it’s ever been filmed like this before,” said Dolores on the Jeff Lewis Has Issues podcast, via @rhonjobsessed on Instagram, after the host asked if Teresa and Melissa’s camps filmed together. “But there’s no loss of them two not talking. I don’t think it was missed … No one missed those arguments … As sad as it is, it’s time to put it to bed.”
Dolores suggested Teresa and Melissa never filmed together in the new season unless it was a group event. She also claimed the sisters-in-law were happier this season because of it, and they were less “on the defense.”
But she claimed there were “times” when Melissa and Teresa filmed together during “all-cast events,” and they were set to film the finale at a house in the Berkshires before it “burned down … the night before.”
“It was bad,” explained Dolores, who claimed it fully burned “to the ground.” She believes it was caused by an “electrical” issue. “The whole house burned to the ground. Nine bedrooms.”
She said no one was inside, but the home was “ready for us” to stay there. Because of this, the women “never got a cast trip.” Though the location of the finale changed, Dolores said they still filmed it – and it was “one for the books.”
Amid her friends’ drama, Dolores denied that she straddles the fence.
“I don’t play both sides,” she declared. “I don’t play any side at all. I’m neutral. I speak my mind. But a lot of the time, I don’t agree with either one of them. Because you know why? When you want to hit low, then someone hits lower. Then they hit lower [and it] becomes a big mess.”
She suggested that Teresa and Melissa didn’t fight in the season.
“There’s no really anything,” explained Dolores. “They just cohabitate in this world.”
