Dodge County home on fire, cold making it hard to fight

DODGE COUNTY, Ga. — A home near Empire has been on fire since around 4:30 this morning, according to Dodge County Fire and EMA Chief Jamie Wilkinson.

The home is out on Highway 257 in Dodge County. They are still dealing with hotspots. The cold weather has left the firefighter’s helmets and facial hair coated with icicles and cold conditions added to their difficulty fighting the fire.

Everyone in the house got out safely. 75% of the home was involved when they arrived. The Family should be able to salvage some things but a lot of it is damaged.

They are not sure what caused the fire.
