Finally! At long last, we’ve been granted knowledge of when the newest season—now called season one—of Doctor Who will officially launch. This will mark the first full series starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor and Millie Gibson as the latest companion, Ruby Sunday. The two had their first full adventure together last Christmas.
How to watch Doctor Who
Doctor Who will premiere on May 10, 2024, with two episodes at 7:00 pm ET on Disney+ globally and at midnight on May 11, 2024, on BBC iPlayer in the UK, with weekly single episode releases following those same times. Due to time-wimey sciencey stuff, this will create a simultaneous release worldwide; simply adjust it to your time zone.
If you’re in the UK, however, the same episodes will also premiere later on Saturday on BBC One just before the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final and then every Saturday after that if you prefer to watch live TV.

Who appears in Doctor Who season one
Alongside Gatwa and Gibson, the BBC announced the return of “Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday, Angela Wynter as Cherry Sunday, and Anita Dobson as Mrs. Flood as well as featuring an array of special guest stars including Jinkx Monsoon, Aneurin Barnard, Yasmin Finney, Jonathan Groff, Bonnie Langford, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush and Indira Varma with more to be announced soon.”
Varma (Game of Thrones) is a fun addition because she’s been in the Whoniverse before. She originally played Suzie Costello in Torchwood both onscreen and in the audio adventures. However, she’ll play a “truly spectacular” character called The Dutchess this time.
Back in December, Disney+ added an official “Doctor Who Collection” page, which currently features the recent 60th anniversary and Christmas specials. It’s a sleek design, and I imagine it will be the easiest way to find any Doctor Who episodes you’re looking to watch from this brand-new era.
