Dexter: Resurrection Trailer Brings Serial Killer Back to Life and it Premieres Soon!

You can’t keep Dexter Morgan down.

That’s the main takeaway from the official trailer for Dexter: Resurrection, premiering July 11, on Paramount+ with Showtime.

The first footage dropped Saturday during a CCXP Panel for the series in Mexico City, and it looks like another fun entry in the serial killer franchise.

The series is described as a continuation of Dexter: New Blood, and “takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace.”

“Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City determined to find him and make things right,” the logline teases.

Dexter: Resurrection Promises High Stakes

“But, closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast.”

“As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together.”

It’s a decent hook for a franchise that has been around for almost 20 years.

Granted, there was an eight-year hiatus between Dexter Season 8 and its Showtime revival, and given the success of prequel Dexter: Original Sin, there are still many fans of this universe.

There’s a lot of excitement for the upcoming series because it continues the present-day storyline, and seemingly puts Dexter in more sticky situations.

How long can he keep running from the past? That’s the big question, and truthfully, there’s no real logical way for him to evade capture this time.

We witnessed a more reflective Dexter following the attempt on his life, but it will be interesting to see how the new series navigates the fundamental issues in the storytelling.

Dexter: Resurrection’s saving grace may be its cast if some of the issues with the plot are not remedied.

Michael C. Hall is a winner off the bat, but we’re also getting Uma Thurman, David Zayas, Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Gumusa, Emilia Suarez, James Remar, and Peter Dinklage.

The guest cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian.

Talk about a perfect cast!

Dexter: Resurrection premieres on Friday, July 11, with its first two episodes. Episodes will also air linearly on Sundays at 8:00/7:00 p.m. ET.
