Today’s Beast World Tour Of Atlantis sees Black Manta turned into a monstrous version of a manta. And it turns out that the DC Universe has a history of this sort of coastal attack, according to one local mayor…
Larry Vaughn was the Mayor of Amity, played by Murray Hamilton. He’s given all the information about the man-eating shark in the water but keeps it to himself. And he is rather similar to this mayor, though had more dubious tastes in striped suits.
“I’m only trying to say that Amity is a summer town. We need summer dollars. If the people can’t swim here they’ll be glad to swim at the beaches of Cape Cod, Hampton, Long Island.”
So basically, in the DC Universe, the mayor of Amity did close down the beach on the 4th of July, there weren’t any shark attacks, and it ended badly for the mayor. Oh and a bit of Breaking Bad while we are at it… and if you thought the Jaws references would end there?
Think again… any chance of making this DC/Jaws universe crossover official? If Marvel can do it with Aliens, Predator and Planet Of The Apes, why not Jaws?
