Danielle Peazer Reveals the Final Message She Received From Liam Payne
Danielle Peazer has revealed details of the final message she received from Liam Payne just “a couple of weeks” before his sudden death at age 31.
Peazer, 36, who dated Payne for more than two years after meeting him on the set of The X Factor UK in 2010, shared details of the message via Instagram on Sunday, October 20.
“Receiving a message from you a couple of weeks ago expressing your happiness for the love I found with Sonny and Mia is something I’ll cherish forever,” Peazer, who welcomed her first child, daughter Mia, with her radio DJ partner Sonny Jay, in May, wrote in an online tribute to the late musician.
Peazer also noted in the post that she is dedicated to supporting Payne’s family, including son Bear, 7, whom the One Direction star shared with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole, in the wake of Payne’s death. Us Weekly confirmed on Wednesday, October 16, that Payne died after falling from a third-story balcony in Argentina that day.
“His most important role and something he was the most proud of out of all of his monumental successes was that he was a father,” Peazer wrote, along with a black and white image of the former couple posing with ice cream cones. “The thought that there is now a child growing up without one of their parents is heartbreaking and unfair. To Liam’s son Bear, as well as his parents and sisters, my love, thoughts and strength goes to you. The magnitude of this loss is incomprehensible and I will continue to support you in any way I am able to.”
Peazer also noted that while the pair’s romance ended in 2013, the breakup marked “just the start of our journey.”
“The things we went through and experienced from then all the way until last year could be described as unique to some and misunderstood by others,” Peazer wrote in the post. “But I think deep down we always knew we’d have some sort of connection forever, no matter where our individual lives took us.”
Peazer remained by Payne’s side as One Direction finished in third place on the competition show, just as their fame expanded around the globe. Peazer acknowledged Payne’s success, and the international stardom it attracted, in her Instagram port.
“It took a little longer for you to figure out the person you wanted to be in order to be your happiest, but whilst most of us have our teens and twenties to learn about ourselves, you spent those years giving more to the world than you ever needed to,” she wrote. “I wish you knew that you were always more than enough for this world without having to search for a role to play just to please others.”
A preliminary autopsy report viewed by Us revealed that Payne died from “multiple injuries involving “internal and external hemorrhage,” and was believed to be in a “state of semi or total unconsciousness” at the time of the fall.
After news of the tragedy broke, Peazer took to Instagram Stories on Saturday, October 19, to share her initial shock. “Over the last few days, I’ve been trying to process the news of Liam’s death. Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to call, text or DM sending condolences and offering support,” Peazer wrote at the time.
After Payne and Peazer broke up, Payne moved on with the likes of Sophia Smith, Cole, 41, Maya Henry and Aliana Mawla. Payne was dating model Kate Cassidy at the time of his passing.
Payne is survived by parents Geoff and Karen, older sisters Nicola and Ruth, and Bear.
