Cyclops is the de facto leader of Marvel’s Merry Band of Mutants, the X-Men, with his role in forming the superhero team known as X-Factor solidifying him as one of the best mutants to ever do it. And now, in a set of inspired “Saturday-morning cartoon” fanart redesigns, Scott Summers and a handful of other heroes plucked from across X-Factor’s long and storied history band together to star in Marvel’s next television hit, “X-Factor: The Animated Series!”

Cyclops’ X-Factor Gets Their Very Own Animated Series In New Fanart

Introduced in 1986’s X-Factor #1 by Bob Layton and Jackson Guice, X-Factor consisted of the first X-Men to rally under Charles Xavier’s dream for a better future — Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, Marvel Girl, and Angel — and received no less than five ongoing series over the decades, with each new roster adding something different to the mix. Initially bringing everyone together after Professor X’s shifty decision to make Magneto the leader of the X-Men, Cyclops and his X-Factor team worked as “mutant hunters,” where they’d help train unstable mutants and reintegrate them into society once safe to do so.
Dazzler was initially meant to take Jean Grey’s place on the original X-Factor team.
Piggybacking on his recent Fantastic Four: The Animated Series artwork, Matt first shows off the main roster of Cyclops’ X-Factor by bringing together Havok, Forge, Dazzler, and Gambit — all wearing similar blue and yellow uniforms — with his following two images depicting alternate versions of Archangel, one featuring his most well-known purple and blue outfit and the second showing his original skull helmeted look. Bringing X-Factor Investigations’ Strong Guy into the animated space next, Matt draws Jubilee sitting on his shoulder, finishing things up by introducing Bishop, officially adding two non-X-Factor members to the series to keep things interesting.
Cyclops and X-Factor Stand Out In New Saturday Morning Cartoon Fanart
Fans haven’t seen X-Factor since the team’s 2020 comic run was unceremoniously cut short after only ten issues, but with the popularity of the recently released X-Men ’97 animated show on Disney+, there’s no reason why Cyclops can’t get a spin-off show featuring his ragtag band of mutant heroes, especially after seeing what Matt Kaufenberg (@mattkaufenberg) has done with their designs here. Cyclops and X-Factor are huge parts of the X-Men’s corner of the Marvel Universe, so making the jump from comic page to television screen should be a no-brainer, at this point.
