Christina Ricci reveals she has struggled through periods of being “really broke” while working to support her children.
The Addams Family star, 44, opened up on the Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty podcast about feeling “helpless” in the past as a working mum facing financial struggles.
“I remember how bad it felt,” Ricci admitted to host Shannon Doherty when discussing the “added responsibility” of having children while still working to pay the bills.
“I’ve actually gone through periods as an adult where we were really, really broke.”

“You just have that thing of, ‘I don’t ever want to feel this way ever again.’ It’s like this visceral feeling,” she recalled.
“I don’t ever want to feel this helpless, because I think that’s what not having a lot of money makes you feel like. You feel very helpless.”
“There’s a ton of that pressure and it’s hard. You have to work to support your family but at the same time you working takes away time from your family,” she continued.
Earlier in the podcast, the actress opened up about growing up “very poor” and having to financially support herself while taking “so many jobs for money”.
The actress told Doherty she is now in a “really good place” and thanked her “supportive” husband Mark Hampton.
The Wednesday star has been married to hair stylist Hampton since 2021 and shares 15-month-old daughter Cleopatra with him.
Before tying the knot with Hampton, the Casper star welcomed an eight-year-old son Freddie with her ex-husband James Heerdegen.

The Addams Family cast: Then and now
Ricci was married to Heergeden from 2013 to 2020, finalising their divorce two in 2022 after gaining a domestic violence restraining order against her ex in 2021.
Earlier in the podcast, Ricci claimed Heergeden “wouldn’t help me at all with anything” when she had to return to work when their son was two-months-old.

“I had to do all the night stuff and get up and go to work for 14 hours and be on camera,” adding she was “basically doing it all on my own.”
According to the actress, she claimed her experience going back to work after her second child “was so much easier” thanks to her husband Hampton.
When she had to work on location in Romania for the show Wednesday, Ricci said Hampton “did every single night, all night long” caring for their daughter.
“You have to have a good, supportive partner,” she concluded.
