The iconic Chilly Half Marathon will heat up the streets of downtown Burlington on Sunday, March 2, when 3,800 runners from across the globe come together to participate in this legendary, legacy run.

Crowds will cheer on the runners as they circle a portion of the downtown core and continue along the picturesque Lake Ontario waterfront before returning to the finish line at 426 Brant St.

The race program starts at 9:35 a.m. on stage near the starting line across from Burlington City Hall at 426 Brant St. The program includes inspiring words from local politicians, celebrities, athletes, sponsors and VR Pro Inc., followed by the singing of O Canada before the race start at 10:05 a.m.

The Chilly Half Marathon supports the local community with funding that makes a difference. The event has raised more than $400,000 for Joseph Brant Hospital and other charities.

Race Director, VR Pro Inc.

“I am excited to welcome our runners to this legacy event, the annual Chilly Half Marathon in downtown Burlington. What my partner Mark I and started in the 1990s through VR Pro has grown into an iconic race held each March.

The event’s success is made possible by the support of the City of Burlington, all our fantastic sponsors and local partners, the media and, of course, the running community.

We thank everyone and look forward to seeing you there, ready to cheer on the runners.”

Reid Coolsaet

Two-time Olympian, previous Chilly Half Marathon winner

“The Chilly Half is a carrot to help plow through January and February training. And then you’re rewarded with a fast course and well-organized event. The Chilly Half always has a competitive elite field that sees 10-km runners match up with marathoners to kick-start their race calendar.”
