January 29: Australian actor Troy Beckwith, who played one of Neighbours‘ most memorable villains, has died. He was 48.
His death was confirmed by Kym Valentine, who played Libby Kennedy on the show opposite Beckwith’s Michael ‘Sicko Micko’ Martin, in an emotional Facebook post.
In an update to followers, Valentine also shared a message on behalf of Beckwith’s family, which stated the actor’s cause of death.
“Troy would be so humbled by all these messages of love,” the statement read.
“The family would like everyone to know that Troy fought a tough battle with cancer, some news sources are suggesting otherwise, which is totally untrue. The family requests privacy at this time.”
