CCRPI improvement shown by local schools – Your Local News

Local schools test at or above average

WALTON COUNTY, GA – Local schools saw improvement in multiple areas on the statewide College and Career Readiness Performance Index, the annual district report card for schools across Georgia.

The CCRPI is Georgia’s statewide accountability system, compliant with the federal Every Student Succeeds Act. The Georgia Depart- ment of Education released scores for all school systems in the state at elementary, middle, and high school levels for each individual component, including content mastery, progress, closing gaps, readiness and graduation rates.

Walton County School District students exceeded state performance in a majority of component areas across elementary, middle, and high school in the new data, while Social Circle City Schools showed improvement at the middle school level, where the school improved in all four CCRPI categories, demonstrating an overall growth in content mastery for all students. Social Circle Elementary School outperformed the state in content mastery, progress and readiness levels. Social Circle High School
scored its highest result in the readiness and graduation rate, outperforming the state average in each.

“Social Circle City Schools is dedicated to cultivating well-rounded graduates who embody our Portrait of a Graduate,” Carrie Booher, superintendent of SCCS, said. “We will use the state data to refine our practices, focusing on areas for improvement while building upon our strengths. Our dedicated staff is unwavering in their commitment to our mission of providing every student with an excellent and equitable education that prepares them for success following high school.”

Both SCCS and WCSD well outpaced the state average in graduation rate, with a 94.9% rate from SCCS and 94.3% from WCSD, compared to 85.7% on the overall state level.

Both districts outperformed the state in readiness, as well, nearly across the board, and did similar or higher numbers in content mastery, too.

Social Circle’s students lagged behind in closing gaps, however, and Walton’s elementary and middle school students also were under state numbers in that area. Progress and content mastery saw mostly higher numbers, though Social Circle High School was well behind in the progress category compared to other levels.

Still, overall, local schools posted numbers at or above average in most areas, and local officials were
pleased with the work students and staff had put in over the last year.

“I am proud of our students and staff for their hard work, consistent pursuit of excellence and achievement of high levels of success,” Chip Underwood, superintendent of WCSD, said. “We are pleased to see our students continue to grow as they surpass the state in most component areas. We are confident we can continue progressing by building on our strengths and improving in all areas.”
