Thieves recently targeted Tofu’s Trading, a Pokémon card store in San Jose, California, making off with a staggering haul of 35,000 Pokémon Trading Cards. The daring heist also included the theft of the store’s cash register. Despite the criminals successfully evading the police in a swift operation, their timing was less than perfect. The stolen loot did not include a highly anticipated special collection set to launch just two days after the break-in.
The humorous twist to the story emerged as the store created a playful video reenacting the heist, showcasing one of the thieves deftly navigating the store floor. Tofu’s Trading, known for its good-humored response, used the situation to inject some levity into the aftermath of the break-in. Amy Simpson, the store manager, recounted the incident, stating, “We saw like three people breaking in through our side door, which was kind of ridiculous because there’s a fridge blocking it – so I don’t think it was a targeted attack at all. I don’t think they were in for a hobby necessarily because they didn’t know what to take.”
