Summary

  • Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2
looks to be delving deeper into Christopher Robin’s childhood, rectifying the first movie’s lack of development for his character.
  • New images reveal the terrifying arrival of Tigger and Owl, with a glimpse into a haunting childhood connection for Christopher as well.
  • With director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s promise of drastically improving on the first movie, a bigger involvement from Christopher Robin and his past could go a long way to doing so.

Christopher Robin’s childhood is going to be explored further, as teased in new Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 images. Acting as a sequel to the 2023 slasher reimagining of the classic children’s book character, the upcoming horror movie will find the titular bear continuing his bloody rampage on the town surrounding the Hundred Acre Wood with the help of his friends Tigger, Owl and Piglet. Rhys Frake-Waterfield returns as director for the sequel while handing off writing duties to Summer of 84‘s Matt Leslie.

With just a few weeks remaining until the movie’s release, Fangoria has unveiled new Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 images.

The photos, as seen in the gallery above, offer more detailed looks at the terrifying arrivals of Tigger and Owl in the upcoming sequel, as well as one of their potential victims, Kelly Rian Sanson’s Mia. Additionally, one of the images offers a tease of Christopher Robin’s haunting childhood as a younger version of the human can be seen heading into the forest with a younger version of Pooh.

Blood & Honey 2 Looks To Be Fixing A Christopher Robin Mistake

Though part of the story for the first movie, namely the opening explanation for why the various childhood characters became evil, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 exploring more of Christopher Robin’s childhood would fix its predecessor’s underwhelming depiction of the character. Despite having promised a revenge story between Pooh, Piglet and their former friend, the 2023 viral hit instead put the focus on the animal duo killing vacationing young women nearby.

The first Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is available to stream on Peacock.

With Christopher escaping at the end of the first Blood and Honey, it seemed all but inevitable that the sequel would offer a proper revenge story for the group, but both the Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 trailer and new images look to be rectifying its predecessor’s lack of focus on him. With teases of diving into Christopher’s childhood, including a connection to a potential kidnapping, this could go a long way to setting up a more sympathetic portrayal of Pooh and his motive for getting revenge on his former friend.

Throughout the sequel’s development, Frake-Waterfield has assured that Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will dramatically improve on the poorly received original, and better expanding on Christopher’s past and relationship with the killer animals would go a long way towards doing so. While part of the charm of the movies is seeing the iconic children’s characters slash through various victims, in order to establish his planned shared universe as a venerable standout in the horror genre, improving on these elements is key.
