Bleckley County arrested and charged with child molestation

The suspect did not work in a public field where he would have been around other children or teens.

They say on Monday, Feb. 26 the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about “improper and illegal activity involving an adult male and juvenile female.” 

An investigation was launched and after multiple interviews with the victim and suspect, a criminal warrant was issued. 

On Wednesday, Chief Deputy Jeff Simpson arrested 49-year-old Widale Hobe of Cochran. 

Hobe is charged with aggravated child molestation.

They said the suspect did not work in a public field where he would have been around other children or teens.

“As your Sheriff, I assure you that there is nothing more important than the safety, security and well-being of our children. We will act swift and decisive and we will come after you with everything we have or can get, to arrest you and put you before a Judge and Jury. You will not harm our children and get away with it,” Sheriff Daniel Cape said.
