Bleach Partners With Puma on Special Anime Collection, But It Will Cost You

This November, the legendary anime and manga series Bleach celebrates its 20th anniversary with an exclusive collaboration with the iconic streetwear fashion brand, Puma. The collection features two iconic sneakers inspired by characters Ichigo Kurosaki and Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, alongside stylish apparel. With BLEACH : Thousand-Year Blood War currently airing its third season to rave reviews, this collaboration comes at a perfect time and allows fans to celebrate the iconic shōnen’s enduring legacy through high-end fashion. The collaboration is now on sale exclusively in Japan at retailers like HOMEGAME and Lafayette.

BLEACH follows Ichigo Kurosaki, a teenager who becomes a Soul Reaper tasked with protecting the living world from malevolent spirits and guiding lost souls to the afterlife. Tite Kubo’s manga debuted in 2001 and ran for 15 years and, with the addition of its anime, BLEACH‘s popularity has cemented it as one of shōnen’s most iconic series. Puma, a global sportswear giant founded in 1948, has become an icon in its own right, known for its innovative streetwear designs. Anime’s influence on pop culture is stronger than ever and BLEACH X Puma seems like a natural fit.

The Iconic Manga/Anime Celebrates 20 Years with Soul Society Style

The Palermo is one of Puma’s signature silhouettes and the BLEACH X Puma version, designed as a tribute to the protagonist, captures Ichigo’s signature color scheme with a black and white upper, black rubber sole, and bold orange laces. Manga panels of Ichigo decorate the sides, with black suede and leather accents adding a luxe feel to the $113 (¥17,600) sneakers. A matching black t-shirt shows off Ichigo’s various fighting forms, and retails for $50 (¥7,700), and both items are sure to be sought-after.

The Espada’s Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez makes up the other half of BLEACH X Puma. The Delphin sneaker boasts blue flames erupting from the white sole over manga panels of Grimmjow printed on white leather. Puma adds its signature details with a swish that runs along the sides and a brilliant blue tag on the sneaker’s tongue. The Grimmjow Delphins can be paired with the matching white t-shirt at $50 (¥7,700).

Bleach‘s author, Tite Kubo, is famous for the incredible sense of fashion displayed through his work, especially in some of the covers of the series, so a collaboration with a streetwear brand seems the most natural thing for his franchise. The entire BLEACH X Puma collaboration is available now, after its November 15th debut, exclusively in Japan, and it’s perfect for fans of the franchise who are already sailing high thanks to BLEACH : Thousand-Year Blood War.
