Bleach: Brave Souls storms onto Switch in July

Sharpen your swords and prepare for battle because the Soul Reapers are coming to the Nintendo Switch on July 11 through Bleach: Brave Souls, a free-to-play beat em’ up based off the popular anime and manga. Originally a mobile game, but now also present on PC, Playstation, and Xbox, it has totaled over 90 million downloads since its launch in 2015 and is bound to rack up more with this Switch port.

Diehard fans of the series can fight their way through their favorite arcs, from Soul Society to Thousand Year Blood War, and experience several other stories previously not adapted. It also has dozens upon dozens of characters to play as, including both heroes and villains. However, as it is a mobile game at its core, it will retain microtransactions and have a heavy focus on online multiplayer.

July will also see another one of anime’s “Big Three” make a splash on Switch with ILCA’s One Piece Odyssey. While Brave Souls isn’t the console Bleach game that fans may have wanted to see, at least the series gets a spot on Switch, alongside One Piece and Naruto, before it’s too late. Japan’s best selling console would have felt hollow without the Shinigami guiding its soul to peace.
