The creative director and writer for Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2, Enrique Cabeza, teased an upcoming announcement for the series on X. The official page for Blasphemous reposted it, adding that the announcement will in fact be coming soon.
The Blasphemous series combines Metroidvania and Souls elements, and follows the pilgrimage of the Penitent One as he cuts through the cursed land of Cvstodia in search of salvation for both himself and those he encounters in his travels.
The first Blasphemous was blessed with three sets of free DLC titled “The Stir of Dawn,” “Strife and Ruin,” and “Wounds of Eventide,” leading some to speculate that this upcoming announcement will be free DLC for last year’s Blasphemous 2. Others, meanwhile, are praying for the unveiling of Blasphemous 3. A prequel or spin-off may also be possible for all we know, but it’s only a matter of time till the fog clears.
