Blake Lively is mourning the loss of a dear friend.
Just hours after the heartbreaking news of Michelle Trachtenberg’s passing on Wednesday, the Gossip Girl lead took to her Instagram Story to mourn her co-star. Michelle played Blake’s character Serena van der Woodsen’s troublesome, partying friend Georgina Sparks for 28 episodes of the hit teen drama starting in the first season. She made a big impact on the show and has already been remembered by many other crew and cast members. Now, the leading lady is paying her respects…

Alongside a photo of the pair smiling together during a scene in a bar (see a similar image below), Blake couldn’t have nicer things to say about the actress, gushing:
“This is the first day I met Michelle. She was electricity. You knew when she entered a room because the vibration changed. Everything she did, she did 200%. She laughed the fullest at someone’s joke, she faced authority head on when she felt something was wrong, she cared deeply about her work, she was proud to be a part of this community and industry as painful as it could be sometimes, she was fiercely loyal to her friends and brave for those she loved, she was big and bold and distinctly herself.”
The mother of four also recalled a really specific and “sweet detail” about Michelle on set, adding:
“And she always had yummy caramel smelling lipgloss on because she didn’t just want to sparkle on camera, she liked creating a nice experience for anyone who was in her orbit, even down to the subtle smell of her lipgloss because she cared about the sweet details. She was a kind person, through and through.”
Aw! It’s the little things that go such a long way!
The It Ends With Us star concluded the tribute by reminding followers to not take anything for granted – suggesting her biggest regret is not staying in better touch with Michelle in recent years, expressing:
“Time passes. You take for granted that you get the chance to see an old friend. To paraphrase, the real tragedies in life are the ones that blindside you on an idle Tuesday. Hold those you love and have loved dear. The world lost a deeply sensitive and good person in Michelle. May her work and her huge heart be remembered by those who were lucky enough to experience her fire.”
Oof. It’s such an important reminder. You just never know how much time you have with someone…
As Perezcious readers know, the 39-year-old was found dead by her mother in her NYC apartment on Wednesday morning. An investigation is ongoing, but no foul play is suspected. According to ABC News police sources, she recently had a liver transplant and it is believed she may have been experiencing fatal complications. Insiders told the magazine that “she told friends she was struggling” with “health issues” and “really, really sick,” with the source noting she looked “pale,” “gaunt,” and “very thin” leading up to her death. Such a tragedy. She was still so young.
