Beyond Utopia, a documentary about a family of 5 escaping North Korea (Sundance Audience Award), is available online IN THE US via DOC NYC for $13 until November 26!

This film left me speechless. I saw some discussion about it online with people wanting to see it, and I just wanted to mention that it's currently available to watch online as part of DOC NYC. The festival trailer said the online festival is only available in the US, but VPN may help. The single-movie ticket is $13, Link to movie: https://www.docnyc.net/film/beyond-utopia/

Other notable festival selections: Sundance, Telluride, TIFF

Here is a trailer: youtu.be/sVmKew4YYSY, but if you can skip it and go straight to the movie, that would be my advice. Of course we know some stuff about North Korea, I just found it immersive to go in and experience everything without prior exposure to the specific materials (and some stuff I learned was truly unreal).

Trigger warning: violence, obviously. And, I cried.
