Better Call Saul Star Surprised To Find Out He’s Cousins With King Charles III

There’s officially a royal connection to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Saul Goodman actor Bob Odenkirk recently discovered that he’s 11th cousins with King Charles III–and no, this isn’t some classic Goodman scam.

Rolling Stone reports Odenkirk found out about his new extended family member on the PBS show Finding Your Roots. The comedian–who’s also known for HBO’s Mr. Show with Bob and David as well as Little Women–laughed about the revelation. “I’m an American. I’m not a monarchist,” Odenkirk said with a chuckle. “I don’t believe in, uh, that.”

Odenkirk added on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he “had the greatest time being on Dr. Gates’ show and having my mind blown by the research into my family’s past.” The actor also learned that he has French ancestry, which his mother “would have loved” to hear about. The episode will air on PBS tonight, January 30, at 8 PM ET.

Earlier this month, Better Call Saul set an astonishing Emmy record: being nominated 53 times without a single win. Odenkirk was nominated six times during the show’s run (2015-22) and never got to accept an award. He previously portrayed Goodman in Breaking Bad, first appearing in Season 2 of the AMC series.

Last year, Odenkirk starred in a new AMC show called Lucky Hank, but it’s already been canceled.
