Lumasi is wrapping up breakout year with Sun & Moon, a new EP full of deep, psychedelic bass.
Across the five-track project, Lumasi delivers delightfully literal interpretations of each song’s title, letting listeners experience his take on their meanings.
Sun & Moon includes the previously released tracks “Mourning Dub” and “Deleted” (with SHMUX). The former has proved immensely popular, its title an ode to the Mourning Dove, whose somber coos are present throughout the track.
Newly released tracks include “Dreamlike,” in which disorienting wubs make us feel like we’re ventured through a nonsensical dreamland. This then segues into “Deleted,” where robotic voices sound like a virus spreading through a computer system.
“Crowd Control” and “Smooth” featuring Ozztin appear last, their stretching downtempo beats like molasses creeping from build to drop and back again. Yawning vowel bass and gentle wind chimes accompany the latter, leaving us thoroughly entranced at the EP’s end.
