Atrium Health employees are getting pay raises. Here’s how much

MACON, Ga. — Many Atrium Health Navicent employees are about to get pay raises starting Jan. 21, and it’s not the first time the hospital has boosted wages here in Macon.

According to a press release, the healthcare giant announced that they will be boosting employees’ base pay by 3% and also increasing the minimum hourly wage from $14 to $15 an hour.

They say that this will “increase the base pay for the bulk of its workforce” and, across the entire Atrium system, will constitute a $328.4 million boost in wages.

“Every day, our teammates deliver exceptional care for our patients and communities, so it is essential that we prioritize taking care of them too,” President of the Southeast Region of Advocate Health Ken Haynes said in a press release. “That’s why we continually make these types of investments into our workforce, to make sure we are attracting and retaining the best talent.”

Across North and South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, they are increasing salaries by $117 million to 64,000 Atrium Health employees. Across all of Atrium Health, they employ 70,000 people. It does not say how much of that pay raise would be concentrated in Central Georgia.

The base minimum wage increase would affect 31,700 hourly workers, including nursing aides, medical assistants, pharmacy techs and environmental services technicians.

They also note that this is the fifth minimum wage increase in less than four years.

The press release notes that the healthcare industry is facing headwinds in recruiting staff, in particular nurses. They emphasized Atrium is hiring and pointed people to their job’s website where they have 285 open positions.

“Creating and sustaining a great workplace culture is key to providing high-quality health care for our patients,” Chief Human Resources Officer for Atrium Health’s Georgia region Gina Keadle said in a press release. “It’s important our teammates receive market competitive compensation and know they are appreciated for the excellent health care they provide each and every day.”

According to the hospital’s website, Atrium Health Navicent employs 4,600 employees, including over 590 physicians.
